Bob Pyle is the founder of the Baltimore-Washington Songwriter's Association which has produced three compilation recordings. He has been a songwriter and performer for over twenty years. Bob usually plays his songs accompanied by banjo or with an old-timey band.
Bob’s CD, Apples and Oranges, has been played on over 100 radio stations world wide since its release in Summer 2004. This includes many stations in Europe and on the BBC in England. The CD was nominated for a WAMA (Washington Association of Music) award, and the song, “I’ve Been Restored,” has recently been developed into a national TV commercial for Farmers Insurance Co.. He has performed around the US at festivals and vegetarian conferences, including The Green Festival, AR 2005, and the Galax Fiddlers Convention. He also produces and performs at many fundraisers and benefits for vegetarian causes.
Bob’s working hard on two new albums to be released in August 2006. They are tentatively titled When J Edgar Hoover Wore a Dress and a children’s CD called Be Kind to Animals. They will both feature Bob’s humorous lyrics and old-time-band sound.
Bob's new CD, Apples and Oranges, mixes old time string band music, humorous lyrics, and exquisite production to create an album with a message of social relevence concerning the foods we choose to eat. It makes use of some of the Baltimore-Washington area's finest musicians, including Bluegrass legend DeDe Wyland and musical virtuoso Billy Kemp. Concert violinist Janice Martin even plays her genuine 1708 Stradivarios violin on eleven of the twelve songs. Mark Brine was helpful with the CD, as well.
