The Brick Road Ramblers (named for Akron, Ohio's 100-year-old red-bricked avenues) serve up a blend of old-time favorites and contemporary folk classics with a banjo-driven old-time sound that has thrilled festival crowds of all ages since 1996.
Featuring five-string and tenor banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, dobro, concertina, and stand-up bass, their music celebrates joyous, foot-stomping mountain tunes, blues, '60s folk, and 1930s standards — all performed in grand style by the four-member Ramblers.
At performances four-member string band fires off a blistering fiddle tune, follows it with a Beatles favorite, and, without missing a beat, segues into a cowboy sing along...or a Broadway melody... or a blues jam... or an old-time country tune... or a turn-of-the century porch-swing song... or a Civil War march... or a Dylan masterpiece.
Several band members have written original songs — Wayne's "The AC&Y", Dave's "Tears in Tennessee", and Dave's "Skye Mountain". These songs and many others are available on the Live at Lock 3, Porch Music, and Medina Rose CDs.
