Mix the boundary-crossing style of Lyle Lovett and the soulfulness of Martin Sexton with equal parts Eva Cassidy, Bonnie Raitt and the Carter Family, and you begin to imagine the habit-forming sound of BUTTERFLY SKY. The musical synergy of singer-songwriters Greg Greer and Barbara Helena Nashold is apparent from the first moment their voices blend. The pair takes their audiences on mesmerizing journeys through joyful laughter and shades of love and loss, while celebrating the vivid experience of living life to its fullest. It’s clear from their dynamic performances that the two singers have taken to heart the words of Joseph Campbell, “Follow your bliss and doors will open where there were no doors before.”

MAGNIFICENT MILES OF MUSIC
Touring from the Midwest through the East Coast and south to Texas, in four years the two musicians have traveled many thousands of miles to offer their smorgasbord of musical treats. Greg's rhythmic picking and strumming create an energetic accompaniment to the deeply soulful harmonies of the voices, with occasional mandolin and harmony thrown in for flavor. Theirs is a shape-shifting dance through folk, country and blues with influences of gospel, jazz and world music. Greg's prolific songwriting fuels the BUTTERFLY SKY set list, with Barbara Helena’s powerful originals mixed in. Their first album, "TURN," is available in select retail stores and via the Internet, while CD #2 is being recorded at Leopard Frog Studio in Canada for release late 2007.

GREG GREER
Greg's touring years stretch back to 1990, at times a rock drummer and lead singer, a blues singer and harmonica player, a country crooner, and in recent years an acoustic singer-songwriter. A songwriter, drummer, flute player and pianist since childhood, Greg entered college on a music scholarship. After touring with the Southern Singers at Southern Baptist College, he made a sharp turn toward the rock world, following a jagged path from Arkansas to Memphis, Hollywood, Las Vegas and finally the Caribbean. It was in the Virgin Islands that Greg began to play acoustic guitar and write the stories of people he met in his adventures, including himself. Nine years later Greg travels with his Gretsch jumbo body and over 80 original songs.

BARBARA HELENA NASHOLD
Barbara Helena started her music career at the ripe old age of one, crawling around joyfully blowing noisy tooth marks into her dad's harmonica. Soon she was singing harmonies with her dad's voice and guitar, and she began playing trumpet at age eight. Barbara Helena's artistic explorations while a voice major at Monmouth College led to a 10-year stay in the Chicago music community. The history-steeped halls of Old Town School of Folk Music became her musical home as she jumped headfirst from her training in music theatre, jazz and classical voice into the world of folk and roots music. Barbara Helena contributes several originals to the BUTTERFLY SKY set list, including the spiritual "Mama Paris," the middle-eastern flavored "Freedom Too" and the gospel-edged “Where Is My Home.”

VENUES WITH EARS
Along with intimate house concerts and hopping festivals, the duo has been invited to play respected venues such as Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, Steel City Coffeehouse near Philadelphia and Anderson Fair in Houston. They have shared the stage with local and touring performers including Pat Wictor, Sara Hickman, and the Austin Lounge Lizards. Their music has also been heard over the airwaves at radio stations such as WDBX (Carbondale, IL), KTCI (Luling, TX), WFDU (Bergenfield, NJ), WVOD (Outer Banks, NC), WTBQ (Florida, NY), Radioioacoustic (Internet), Whole Wheat Radio (Internet), KRCL (Salt Lake City, UT).

WHY "BUTTERFLY SKY"?
If just one butterfly's wings can change the winds across the world, then how about two, or perhaps a sky full – like a monarch migration with joyful intention? The butterfly is a symbol of transformation and joy, so BUTTERFLY SKY would mean 'boundless transformation and joy,' which the duo wishes for everyone..
