For those of you who don't know, my house here in san diego burned to the ground in the recent fires one month ago. Two days before the fires, my CD So Long Abilene was sent to mastering in LA, which was a good thing because my multi tracks burned along with my house and everything else. I am doing fine... it is just damn overwhelming to get the basic necessities but I am slowly getting it together. The CD will be released to radio February 1st, 2008 and we are still touring as planned starting in Feb.
I am going to donate 1/2 of the sale price of my CD to the Red Cross to help the fire victims here in San Diego who do not have the means to rebuild.

Carolann Ames has a rebel’s soul and a poet’s heart. She is a multiple award-winning songwriter (including Grand Prize in the 2004 John Lennon Songwriting Contest) with a southern influence. Her creative sonic flamboyance is rare and creates a high energy, roots-based sound that is both distinctive and radio-friendly. All 12 songs on SO LONG ABILENE have something special to offer with Carolann’s rich, expressive vocals and vibrant instrumentation. ”Almost Lucky,” “Broken Down Dream” and “Lavender Sky” all illustrate an unusual outlook regarding life on the road and are immediately unforgettable. The moody and intense “I Remain,” written about the sudden death of Carolann’s father, showcases her unique style and sonic approach.
... Ames is one of those rare triple threat artists. Besides being an electrifying performer, she is also a top flight writer and producer ... --Lonny Brooks of Taylor Guitars.
A most refreshing wordsmith/songwriter whose time has come ... Americana lives! --Douglas Rowe, Acoustic Avenue WNKU 89.7.
