Playing a $10 guitar her mother scored at at garage sale, Rachel Browning has been writing songs and gigging with Dryer for the last five years. Raised in rural Virginia, Browning's songwriting reflects her vision of the South, the new West and the road. Her songs have been described at "impeccable", "genre defiant" and "stunning". The Portland Rocket calls her voice "a curious balance of strength and vulnerability, wisdom and wonder, frailty and force..." Goldmine Magazine raves "Browning is an astonishing talent...There is a dark undercurrent to much of this music, a wanderlust and vision of the road, indeed of America, that is rich in gothic images."
Lead guitarist, Christopher Beeson, originally from a Mississippi river town, moved to a small Nevada mining town where he covered bass and vocals for a roots and blues biker-bar band called Bad Dog. Moving to Oregon five years ago, he found himself playing bass in a heavy funk band and a sixties-style originals rock band. Rebounding to his cultural roots, Chris has found a home with Dryer where he plans to stay and explore the mysteries of the Midwestern mind through music. The Oregonian describes his playing as "atmospheric and thoughtful" while HardRoad.com enthusiastically claims "Beeson executes some of the most creative and efficient guitar accompaniment I have ever heard...."
