Faith Petric was born in a log cabin near Orofino, Idaho on September 13, 1915. She has been singing since age 3, in churches where her father was preaching. Petric loves collecting and singing songs, from cowboy songs in the 1920s, to protest songs during the Spanish Civil War, to folk and protest songs today.
A long-time activist, Petric started singing protest songs during the Spanish Civil War and continues to sing protest songs today. She co-founded the Freedom Song Network.
Petric is very active in the folk music scene, hosting the San Francisco Folk Club jam sessions since 1962. She founded the Portable Folk Festival in 1972, writes for Sing Out! magazine and calls herself a "traveling folkie," spending as much as half the year performing around the world..
