Continuing to establish her name at the top of the songwriters circuit, Jenn Adams has won numerous awards across the country, from Falcon Ridge in New York to Kerrville Texas and in the Rocky Mountain from Lyons Folks Festival to the Troubadour Contest in Telluride. Other notable achievements include the USA, Grand Prize, Songwriting Contest award in the lyric category for her song “Rosalia” and Performing Songwriter Magazine’s prestigious “Editors Choice” of “Joliet” for their “Top 12″compilation CD.
Performing for nearly twenty years, Jenn has shared the stage with many great songwriters, including, Taj Mahal, Richie Havens, Greg Brown, and Patty Larkin. In 2004 she was a featured guest on Mountain Stage with Bruce Hornsby, John Cale and Lori McKenna. She has appeared on the nationally syndicated Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, and is a regular at the famous Bluebird Cafe. In August, We are Listening, 2006 Songwriter Awards recognized Jenn’s talent by awarding an honorable mention for her song, “4 White Ponies”. And the Just Plain Folks Music Awards, recently voted to nominate the same song for their category “Best American Song”.
Though the last few years have seen big changes for the Montana troubadour, including a move to Nashville Tennessee, Adams has continued to focus on her craft. In 2004 and 05, attending classes at the Nashville Jazz Workshop where she studied composition and technique and this summer in Boston at Berklee College of Music, concentrating on a wider curriculum of performance and songwriting, theory and harmony.
Now living in the Northeast, Jenn will be touring in support of her latest release, “Under the Gyspy Sky” in early spring, 2008. She confesses, “I felt rather jaded by the whole music industry and needed a break. Now, I’ve spent enough time distracted with other things to realize that music is what I’m supposed to be doing. It’s a good life and great work to be doing in the world”.
Whether playing with her band “The Tonics”, or solo, she is a dynamic performer. Percussive acoustic guitar and honey smooth vocals invite the listener to savor compelling original songs as well as selected covers, successfully redefining contemporary folk music with a satisfyingly rich blend of folk, pop, blues & jazz..
