Her first solo release every little thing is textured with acoustic strings, haunting harmonies, penny whistle flavoring and with a hint of the Emerald Road of her heritage.
Her timeless, one-of-a-kind voice and eloquent understated delivery is a style all her own. "It is the evolution process of my music and career that I love. Taking risks, learning to welcome the 'free fall' of expression and always staying true to the passion of my work is what is in the center of my music."
Katie's musical path spans from west L.A.'s famous Troubadour; opening for Merle Haggard at the Silverthorn Resort in Shasta Lake, CA; to the Sisters Folk Festival, in Sisters, OR, where she has been a two-time finalist in the Singer/Songwriter competition. She was awarded Folk Song of the Year in 2004 and in 2005 by the Central Oregon Songwriters' Association.
Born and raised in southern California, Katie's world has always been about music. The second oldest in an Irish Catholic family of nine, music poured out the windows of that house on the hill. Piano, guitar, flute, trumpet and uproarious harmonies were always in the air. "I grew up on the peninsula just south of L.A. It was rolling hills and rattlesnakes. Now there are condos where the hay fields once were. I guess progress just can't get her fill. Nonetheless, it is a wonderful place to be from," Katie reflects from her rural home in Central Oregon.
