Matthew Middendorf is a unique songwriter. Soulful depth like Kate Wolf, a sense of humor like Garrison Keillor, and a spiritual connection with nature like 1970s Bruce Cockburn.
The title track from his CD, "Chocolate, The Complete Food," is a fun & funny anthem about chocolate--you know, chocolate is good for you so you should eat a lot of it! Numerous songs are ballads about nature, set in the American West.
Matthew has put a poem by a Jewish holocaust victim (Hannah Senesh) "Blessed is the Match" to music; the depth and subline lyrics are matched by the beautiful haunting melody, reminiscent of Loreena McKennitt.
Then there's the humorous romp, "Jesus Must Be In Hell," with the message that if Jesus hung around with the outcasts like the biblical narrtives say, and those kind of people are going to hell, then Jesus must be in hell--with his friends. read more.
