Since the early '70s Mike Strasser has been performing his songs in a variety of venues and cities.
From the streets of his native Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to touring the Northern New York College Circuit to being a regular performer around the San Francisco Bay area in cafes, bars and street festivals.
Mike has delighted and intrigued audiences with his observations, both angry and tender, accumulated over the years as a critical and nuanced observer of contemporary American life.
"Original folk pop type songs. Telling stories and making observations about life. Mike's songs are crisp, unique and original." Herb Gura, KMUD. "His voice almost seems out of time, as if it were lifted from the early 20th century Carter family recordings. And to top it off, he combines his somber vocals with pensive lyrics to really push your mind, your ears and your eyes towards the surrounding social-political world.
Strasser's vocals are the key to this song's success. He's a great storyteller ... you can feel the tragic elements in his voice.
Comments from the artist:
Hello all you WWR staff and listeners. I wanted to take a minute here to thank WWR for playing my songs and also for those of you who have taken the time to rate them. I live in Ambridge, PA which is "up the Ohio" about a half hours drive from Pittsburgh, PA I moved back here after 28 years in California (San Francisco then Sacramento.) The whys and wherefores of why I did that is a long and rather boring story except to say I wanted to pursue doing my music full time before I cross on over to the other side.
I just turned 59 years old and ... well life is short, ain't it. The kids are grown and on their own so now I want to pursue what I've always wanted to do since I was a teenager listening to Dylan, the Beatles, etc. That's it from me for now. I just wanted to create a presence here so to "reach out" and say hello and thanks to all of you up there in Alaska and from where ever you tune into WWR

Hi Mike! Good toy hear from the artists themselves! It's the personal contact that really makes Whole Wheat Radio what it is. I like your songs, and love to be able to hear them here.--Bisbonian (talk) 09:38, May 19, 2008 (AKDT)
