Songwriter Richard Stooksbury delivers his second helping of fine songs with the release of South. Stooksbury’s debut recording garnered the attention of international fans, DJs, and music critics in 2005. South, his sophomore release, picks up where he left off. Well, kind of…
Frustrated with the experience of recording his music at other studios, Stooksbury set out to build his own recording space to record his next project. That endeavor, reflected in the songs on South, took six months of construction and eight months of recording, mixing, and mastering. The wait was worth it, though, for fans… and for the man himself.
South is a very personal statement. Stooksbury has not only taken care of creating a space, writing the songs, and becoming producer/engineer, but has also created a warm, resonant recording featuring well-crafted songs and stories told through a distinct and familiar voice.
Also featured on South are Stooksbury’s long-time musical companions – John R. Crowder (Leonard Cohen, Loudon Wainwright III) and Al Goll (Plaidgrass, Leftover Salmon, Hayseed Dixie). These musicians, known affectionately as The Glaring Mistakes, are an integral part of Stooksbury’s sound..
