The Ginn Sisters are funnier than they look. Whether they are on Mountain Stage or in a "biker bar" the formula is the same: stun them with beautiful singing and then charm them with humor. Tiffani and Brit Ginn have been singing together since they were toddlers and it shows. Their musical education started in their South Texas home, listening to the family band growing up. The line was always the same, "find a part." They played music at home, at school and studied music in college. This combination resulted in what a venue owner in Gonzales, Texas recently described as "The Hottest Harmonies in Texas."
They quickly enchanted their home town of Austin, Texas with their country-inflected brand of acoustic Americana music and then took it out on the road, touring relentlessly from 2003 to the present. Tiffani writes the songs, plays guitar and sings lead. Brit brings the harmonies, and plays the flute and melodica.
The magic of The Ginn Sisters happens on stage, but some of that magic was captured on their 2006 release Blood Oranges. Blood Oranges received stellar reviews from regional, national and international media. It was played on Americana, AAA, Folk, Country, Eclectic and even Bluegrass radio. It reached #2 on the RootsMusic Report, #3 on the FAR Chart and #24 on the Americana Chart. It was the #1 independently released CD on the Americana chart for 2006. It was in top rotation on a number of national radio, tv radio and internet stations, including XM Radio's X Country.
But the Ginn Sisters really "happen" on stage. Their banter is as tightly woven and as natural as their harmonies. They are funny and personable and charming on stage in a way that is beyond their years. Their talent, background and relentless touring have made them a seasoned act while still in their 20s.
They have played in some of the best listening rooms in the country like The Ark, Mountain Stage, The Bitter End, The Cactus Cafe, Eddies Attic, CSPS, the Focal Point, Swallow Hill and the Bluebird Cafe. They are primarily interested in playing at festivals, house concerts, theatres and listening rooms, but are willing and able to play club dates as well.
