Via Cora

Wayne McGraw and Trent Antony released the album Amelia under the band name of Via Cora. Previous to working on Amelia, Antony and McGraw spent years in various bands, playing concerts along the Front Range of Colorado. Most notably, they gained a considerable college-age following in northern Colorado between 1992 and 1996, performing in the band, Illusion, and for their 1997 release of November Park: Tales Told in November.

As noted in several Amelia album reviews, Antony moved to the East Coast in 2000 while McGraw remained in Colorado. Missing out on performing and recording, both decided to try writing an album "in the virtual world" with McGraw sending original tracks to North Carolina and Antony matching drums. After a year of collaboration, both came together for final production, releasing the album with Cyclorama Records.

The artists, with little money for promotion, found ways to get Amelia out in the news with college and public radio stations providing airplay. Newagereporter.com in April 2004 ranked Amelia's "Blue Runway Light" in the top 20 nationally, which gave the "band" more spotlight than what McGraw and Antony originally expected.

According to McGraw, while the recording was started as an experiment in writing music coast-to-coast, the project become much more. He indicated in a University of Northern Colorado campus paper (UNCO, April 2005) that Amelia became a personal journey, a CD of "discovery." He explained that Amelia encompassed two loves -- a love of aviation and the Far East. In fact, the songs themselves follow a flight path across the Pacific Ocean from "Blue Runway Light" onto "China Calling" and onto "Amelia." "3 AM Fate," according to the University article, was McGraw's way of dealing with turbulance in the middle of the night over the Pacific. He only added that the tragic events of TWA 800 inspired the initial writing of the piece. "August Road," on the other hand, tried to balance two images: one of youthful innocence in summer and one of mortality.

Trent Antony presently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina. Wayne McGraw moved to the Seattle area to support international relief work. There are no future plans for a Via Cora II at this time.
