| 5:51 pm | Sherfieldl (talk/contribs) | Hi bacl Jim, good for U, enjoy your vacation | |
| 5:49 pm | Sherfieldl (talk/contribs) | We found LTH in VA & followed them to IOTA, Asland Tea & Coffee. Hey I'm the guy sitting at the bar on the CD cover recorded at IOTA | |
| 5:49 pm | Jim (talk/contribs) | Everyone note: - Around 6PM, if I haven't had a heart attack from excitement by then (15 mins or so) I'll start shutting down the lefthand menu to just make the Peter Cooper and Eric Brace stuff show up. It's fine to surf other areas of the site if you have them bookmarked, but on these house concert nights, we tend to gather around the virtual campfire in the live performance chat room. | |
| 5:47 pm | Jim (talk/contribs) | Hi Sherfieldl! Thanks - good to have you aboard. It's a special night with Eric and Peter here so you caught the community at a great time. Besides, I'M A-GOIN' ON VACAAAATION! | |
| 5:46 pm | Sherfieldl (talk/contribs) | Hi guys just stopped in to listen to LTH, very interesting what you have here | |
| 5:24 pm | Dean (talk/contribs) | Found their web site http://mysticwarriors.com/home1.html warning it has audio | |
| 5:17 pm | Dean (talk/contribs) | Hello. Cool , going from one concert to another. We just got back from seeing the Mystic Warriors, a group from Bolivia and USA | |

| 4:50 pm | DogNut (talk/contribs) | I'm on my way over Jim... I hope I can make it ;-) | |

| 1:20 pm | 12-stringer (talk/contribs) | Most definitely, Scobey - Stand-up Bass, Double Bass, String Bass, or Doghouse Bass, whichever term you prefer .. | |
| 1:17 pm | Jim (talk/contribs) | Thanks Danny. That is really helpful - especially Twitter I'm supposing. | |

| 12:25 pm | Danny (talk/contribs) | closer to time for a house concert i always post to Twitter, FriendFeed, and identi.ca. i've only a hundred or so followers between the 3 micro-blogging services but i like to imagine that at least one person might be motivated to logon and have their eyes opened to WWR's "independent organic music revolution" | |
| 12:20 pm | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Wow! A lot of red there. | |
| 12:11 pm | Jim (talk/contribs) | And if you're wondering why the influx of new folks today, Eric sent out an email about tonight's concert to 5,000+ people and apparently it's working! | |
| 12:11 pm | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | Don't forget top remind the rest of us Scobey.... | |
| 12:09 pm | Scobey (talk/contribs) | I'll help welcome folks. | |
| 12:07 pm | Jim (talk/contribs) | FWIW you regulars ... while I'm gone, if you think of it, putting the {Welcome} template on new people's TALK PAGES (NOT their user page) is a nice way to welcome them and clue them in a little about the site. You'll see me do it frequently. I scan the Listener_status page and just click on any red talk pages and slap in {Welcome} (double curlys) ... just saying in case anyone wants to take that on. | |
| 12:05 pm | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Looks like my router is dying AGAIN! No more Linksys for me!!! | |

| 11:48 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Really interesting there Sandbar! | |
| 11:48 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Ah! Got it! | |
| 11:42 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | I can't get paypal to work!!!!! | |
| 11:41 am | Sandbar (talk/contribs) | Make the Nut = back in the day when Gypsies arrived in a town -the local sheriff would have them remove the"nut" from the wagon as a deposit of sorts to keep them from leaving after making their money from various activities. When they made their nut they would have enough to buy back the nut from the sheriff. The sheriff would then have funds available if they had screwed anyone. Regards, to all. | |
| 11:30 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Nice Help!!!! | |
| 11:27 am | Kingfisher (talk/contribs) | Hey,, people down in Seldovia..(who are probably not listening BUT) Peter and Eric are playing down here tomorrow night and there are only 12 people signed up so far..YIKES..Help! | |
| 11:27 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | I love these lines from Peter's song "They Hate Me" that's playing right now ... Her daddy made his nut selling cars on a used car lot - Talked hayseed but he was smart enough to not got caught | |
| 11:25 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Help:Create_a_new_tag | |
| 11:23 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | How do I build a new tag? | |
| 11:09 am | Big Tom (talk/contribs) | Hello all | |
| 11:07 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | FWIW - Peter really likes and raved about David Olney - someone ya'll might want to check out. Said he's one of the greatest songwriters alive today. | |
| 11:05 am | Kingfisher (talk/contribs) | DAN McElrath is quite a great musician and composer in himself. He is one of Seldovia's favorites.. The band is the cream on the coffee.. | |
| 11:02 am | terri (talk/contribs) | ||
| 11:02 am | terri (talk/contribs) | heh... Isle of Klezbos... cute name. | |
| 10:58 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | (Abi Gezunt Medley / Greetings From The Isle Of Klezbos / Isle of Klezbos) stand-up bass | |
| 10:45 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | They are at Border Books 6-8 tonight. Guess I'll go. (Til 7) | |
| 10:43 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | The CD Danka - DAN MCELRATH WITH KATIE STROCK - Although Dan McElrath has recorded numerous CD's for others "DanKa" is his first as feature artist. DanKa is a collaboration with the Dan Mac Quartet and the talent of vocalist Katie Strock to introduce her red-headed attitude and fun voice to the jazz world. The only thing better is to catch her live! | |

| 10:41 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Scobey! Tell Dan I said Hi! He tuned the piano here a few weeks ago. Esther and I (mostly Esther) have known Dan for a few years. She rode with him down to Seldovia when her car when kaput. Small world! (And great piano tuner - I felt bad even having him come look at a spinet piano like the one I got but it was a good chance for him to see the place - we'll hopefully have a concert with him this fall or winter or spring.) | |
| 10:40 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Maybe I can get a copy for WWR. | |
| 10:39 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Dan's Website | |
| 10:35 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Dan Mcelrath and Katie Strock - CD is jazz - "Danka". | |
| 10:32 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Piano tuner here at 11:30 has a new CD out. | |
| 10:31 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | If you need help, give a shout!!! | |
| 10:29 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Scobey - early. I think it's 9AM or so. I'm all set in terms of parking and logistics though. Not sure when I'll be getting into Anchorage the night before because I have to show Angela the ropes here at the Wheat Palace. And, of course, I'll be focusing on Beta and making sure he's set to go. | |
| 10:24 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | Jim What time do you have to be to the airport? | |
| 10:14 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | It is not necessary to fix it at all. Now that we know how it works... It is just a training issue. | |
| 10:07 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | It is not fixable before Vacation DDoug. :-) It is fixable eventually though by just giving each show a uniqueid, associating the "Yes - play this show" submit button with that uniqueid. Right now, it's just "last show built" is the one that all submit buttons will request. That's why when you did "build another show" and then said "Yes - play it" it worked. | |
| 9:54 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | The tab thing is not fixible is it,.. Aren't all the tabs in the same session? | |
| 9:44 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Okay - got it. There were actually 2 bugs ... 1 was a real bug (listing DogNut's favs for Rez Dog) and the 2nd was a design flaw - only 1 show per user can be built. New shows in new tabs wipe out the shows for previous tabs. | |
| 9:37 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | Well Jim,.. I'm a database guy,... so by nature I start blaming problems on things as far away from me as possible. | |
| 9:37 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | AHA! Yes Doctordoug - I see it now. Um, and it's a "feature" ... I'll document it on the Bugs page - but you more or less figured it out yourself. THE LAST BUILD OF A SHOW IS THE SHOW THAT WILL BE PLAYED FOR ANY CLICK OF THE SUBMIT BUTTON NO MATTER WHAT RESULTS MAY HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THAT SUBMIT BUTTON ON A PAGE. Simply put, you can't open multiple tabs without each one over-writing the show that will be requested from any previous tabs. Design-wise it's this: there is one record per user that is built everytime you bring up a page that builds a show. Each time you build a show, you overwrite the previous record. Ugh. | |
| 9:32 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | DD --- OKAY - yeah - AM GETTING IT NOW ... yes, it would appear to you to be a multiple tab browser problem. Um, yeah - working on it. BYE MERT - have fun! | |
| 9:28 am | Mert (talk/contribs) | Received the CDs, Jim—thanks. ... Headed north to see Old Momster. Everyone have a groovy weekend. | |
| 9:27 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | The DD pic is what was on my page (in a different tab) when I picked Caters songs to play. | |
| 9:27 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | OHHHHHH --- okay --- so you are saying that it's not picking the actual songs in the list you requested - that's a different problem. Okay - I see it - thanks. Lemme go take a look. | |
| 9:26 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | The second cater pic is her page after it comes back from choosing to hear her songs | |
| 9:22 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Special:Upload DDoug. You don't have to link them - I'll see them in the list of recent photo uploads and just look from there. | |
| 9:21 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | And just as a fun techie aside, you will note that whenever you see something that looks like it should be a link in BLACK, it means you're already sitting on the page that would be linked to. Wiki code does that. So, "Cater" is in black in the 5 star ranker list cuz you're already sitting on her page where the link would take you to. Same thing happens on Wikipedia. | |
| 9:21 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | OK got three .jpg,.. | |
| 9:19 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | FWIW, I'm getting 100% success on User:Catetheshiner page that it shows songs she actually has given 5 stars to. | |
| 9:18 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | And BTW Doctordoug - it should not matter if you open in tabs etc. ... really, the browser has nothing to do with it once you've confirmed that you ARE SEEING the 5 star raters in the OVERALL RATING column. (And then, I only want to make sure that you don't have some old cached version of the code which would be highly ... um ... impossible I think.) | |
| 9:17 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | I'll try again Jim,.. sorry I have been distracted and missed you suggestions. | |
| 9:17 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | If you refresh the list (pick the second or later group of three) It seems to work OK.. My sugestion is to put three songs up first that the requesting user doesn't like so that they hit the no thanks show me others button at least once | |
| 9:16 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | So Doctordoug - the first thing is to insure that YOU ARE SEEING CATERS NAME IN THE LIST OF 5 STAR RATERS ON HER PAGE. If you're on her page and she doesn't show up in that list, um, a screenshot would REALLY help me cuz I'm definitely not seeing that here on my screen. | |
| 9:15 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Doctordoug - now that you can SEE ON THE USER PAGE WHO GAVE IT 5 STARS you should be able to actually SEE THE PERSON'S NAME IN THE LIST. So you don't need to actually make the show request. Bear with me here. So when I go to Cater's page and keep looking at shows, her name DOES show up under the 5 star raters for every song. Now, if you're saying you ACTUALLY REQUEST THE SHOW AND IT CHANGES THE SONG LIST AND DOESN'T PLAY THE ONES THAT SHOWED CATER HAD RANKED 5 STARS, um, we do have a problem. | |
| 9:13 am | Cater (talk/contribs) | Thanks for trying there, DD | |
| 9:13 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Had a great conversation with Peter & Eric last night about the music biz in terms of royalties and SoundExchange etc. It's really necessary for me to talk to people who are involved in the 'biz' (they are both writers and in Nashville and personally know a lot of the bigger players in the arena) - although legally WWR is still toast, there was a recognition of exactly what I've said - "One size does not fit all." ... and that the powers that be don't really want to crush small, non-commercial sites like WWR. That's not entirely what the facts bear out, but it was good to hear that perhaps there is some sanity in the hallowed halls of the music biz. Made me wonder anyway instead of being 100% closed to the possibility that BMI / ASCAP / SEASAC / SOUNDEXCHANGE have anyone with an ounce of common sense behind them. | |
| 9:11 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | sorry to report that the bug remains,.. I picked songs from caters page and got 3 from doctordoug's page. At least I've learned to pick my own page as the last in the series | |
| 8:50 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | Just in general and for grins, when picking usernames on internet sites, a good general rule is no special characters. That would include spaces. | |
| 8:49 am | ReWoven (talk/contribs) | I have put my finger on a bug and squished it. ![]() | |
| 8:48 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | I may have fixed the user favorites requesting bug reported earlier today. Great debugging reporting by Doctordoug and Kelli. Allowed me to find the problem area pretty quickly. It has to do with users that match other user names. It's still probably not perfect in some cases (let me know if you find one) ... all reported on Bugs. | |
| 8:47 am | Jim (talk/contribs) | (Pssttt...I just realized something ... another reason a user should create a user page is that no one can request a show of their favorites easily if there is no user page. | |
| 8:15 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | OMG!!! The is even blue sky! What did we do wrong??? | |
| 8:14 am | Scobey (talk/contribs) | OMG!!! There is this big bright thing in the sky! What could it be??? | |
| 7:01 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | I have put my findings on the bugs page | |
| 6:40 am | Mert (talk/contribs) | Good job, dd. | |
| 6:37 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | I've got a bead on it. It is a browser thing,.. I'll compile my finding and publish on the bugs page | |
| 6:01 am | Mert (talk/contribs) | Big help I am. Sometimes it's better to keep my mouth shut. | |
| 5:59 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | I believe it was Rubenerd each time. I also think it has to do with opening a bunch of tabs in the same browser. I will prolly do some test cases later. Thanks Kelli. (and Cub). | |
| 5:48 am | Cub Driver (talk/contribs) | I dodn't think I'd report it as a bug, the music is still good even if Scobey hasn't rated it. | |
| 5:39 am | Cub Driver (talk/contribs) | My eyes are barely open yet. I did notice the coffee is ready. | |
| 5:38 am | Kelli (talk/contribs) | Doctordoug, I looked at what's playing right after I saw your comment and found an example of the problem. I reported it on bugs but feel free to add any information you find. Thanks! | |
| 5:19 am | Doctordoug (talk/contribs) | Hmm,... Any one else notice this phenomena... I went to a users page and requested a set of their favorites. When I went to the upcoming list ,.. the songs didn't look familiar. When some of them get played the user I requested them for hadn't rated them at all. I thought I saw this yesterday. Anyone else notice the phenom? I shall have to pay real attention and document if I can repeat it. | |
