Exaile is a media player primarily for the GNOME and Xfce desktops on Linux, FreeBSD and other Unix-like operating systems.

Like iTunes on Mac and Windows, and amaroK on KDE, it can be used to listen to the Whole Wheat Radio audio streams and as an auto downloader for audio magazines.

Tuning into streams

Exaile doesn't seem to like the listen.pls files you download when you click the Listen links on the sidebar. The solution is to use the URL for the stream itself.

Choose the Radio tab on the left, then click the [+] button. Choose your own text for the Station Name and Description, then in the URL field enter in one of these:

Changing the cover art

Once you're tuned in and listening, you might want to right click the large empty cover art square next to the title of the song and choose a Whole Wheaty logo to make it look better. This page is a great place to grab one!

Downloading audio magazines

Choose the Radio tab again on the left, then right click the Podcast folder in the file list and choose Add Feed. Throw in http://feeds.feedburner.com/WWRAudioMagazines. You'll notice a new playlist has been created and the latest episodes will start downloading for your audio pleasure!
