Where Wheatheads might rendezvous

Realizing that not all Wheatheads were going to make it to Wheatstalk 2007, the idea of getting together still seemed to hold interest. The conversation started with the idea of a place that those in the south might be able to work into their lives. Here are those that were originally mentioned as well as many that were added for the benefit of Wheatheads in other areas who might want to meet up with each other at a festival. We though that those interested in camping could camp together and those who prefer to find a nearby motel could meet up with the others at the music events or other Wheathead get-togethers during the festival. Good idea, eh? You may wish to enter the festivals that you know about and attend if you think they would be of genuine interest as possible gathering places for Wheatheads who aren't able to make to Alaska yet. There is really no need to just list random festivals here since there are other sites on the web that do a good job of collecting those names. See the Dirty Linen site for lists of festivals and performances by state or by artist. This list is more personalized since some of us will be there and others may try to go and meet.

Tundra Dawg, jjascob and LuAnna did meet in Oklahoma at the Woody Guthrie Festival. We wish more of you could have been there!

Oregon Country Fair

When: July 11-13, 2008

Who in the WWR library is performing:

Wheatheads who are already sure that they will be at this one: Onthebus I work at this fair on the recycle crew and am there for a full week. I have been attending for about 23 years and only missed 2 or 3. This is the most amazing volunteer hippy alternative craft renaissance, musical, magical event on the earth IMHO.

Wheatheads who might try to attend this one:

More info: Oregon Country Fair Website

Comments: There is the paying public and the volunteers. The volunteers number around 10,000 and there is the most amazing infrastructure that has been set up on-site. You will have a whole lot of fun if you are the paying public but the show ends each day at 7 p.m. and you will have to leave. Then the nighttime fun commences with the staff which is a whole other world entirely. It takes some networking to get on crew or get a staff pass. Usually you get a S.O. (Significant Other) with a crew pass. It's like having the golden ticket. Everyone wants in! Onthebus 10:04, March 3, 2007 (AKST)
