Catching a seagull
Far Star and I were fishing for pinks amongst the pilings for the, at the time, unfinished dock at 4th of July Creek near Seward.
The pinks were running thick and we were about to limit out for the third day in a row.
I cast out a line baited with herring and a seagull swooped down and grabbed it. She flew off with most of my line before I cut it.
I was upset about the gull stuck with the hook. I wanted to reel it in and remove the hook. Far Star thought I was nuts. Then I tied on a new hook, baited up and fished some more.
I thought we'd never finish smoking those pinks!
Surprise halibut for salmon derby
Another time we (a different boyfriend(s)... ummmm... long story ;) were trolling for salmon near Lowell Point during the Seward Salmon Derby. One of the guys got a bite and a long fight. A big one we thought. Maybe the winner.
When it finally tired out and he got it near the boat, we realized it was a 40 lb. halibut!
We almost tipped over the skiff getting it aboard.

Dean and Smartlady of the house fishing
No photos, however on our honeymoon up in the mountains we went fishing for an afternoon in the rain. Had the lake to ourselves, fish dont seem to mind rain, and it was a nice break from "other activities" ::lol
