Uploading photos

If you would like to display a photo or graphic image on a WWR page, first upload it to the WWR server.

  • Do not post photos where the owner / photographer have clearly indicated they want to control distribution.

If the photo exists on your hard drive (i.e. not somewhere on the internet):
1) Prepare the photo if required (resize, sharpen, etc.) and make a note of where it is on your hard drive.
2) Go to the Upload file page
3) Click Browse, and locate the file on your hard drive. The file's name will automatically be placed in the Source filename and Destination filename boxes. Continue with Step 4 below.

If the photo exists somewhere on the internet:
1) Copy the internet URL to the photo by swiping over it and using CTRL-C to copy the URL into your clipboard.
2) Go to the Upload file page
3) Click the little round circle beneath Source filename in order to highlight the edit box called (a valid, publicly accessible URL) and then paste the URL using CTRL-V into the box. The file's name will automatically be placed in the Source filename and Destination filename boxes.

4) (Optional) If you would like the file to have a different name on the server, type the new name in the Destination filename box.
5) (Optional) If you would like to describe the image, do so in the Summary box. This is a good time to put in a category for the photo such as [[Category:Flowers]] or [[Category:John's Photos]]
6) Click the Upload file button to begin uploading the file.
7) Occaisionally, the file name you have chosen for the destination will already be in use at WWR. If this happens, you will get a window that allows you to either Re-upload the file, or allows you to continue saving your file by overwriting the existing image. Generally, the re-upload option is the best which takes you back to the upload page so you can select a new destination file name. Chose the SAVE option only if you are certain you should overwrite the previous image file, i.e. you uploaded the previous image.
