Port

From WWR

Jump to: navigation, search

A port is a computer term describing a software entry and exit point for computers to exchange data.

On the internet, sites communicate with each other by establishing a connection through a mutually agreed upon port. The audio portion of WWR is sent on two different ports, one for high-speed listeners (port 2680) and one for low-speed listeners (port 2670).

Workplaces often block specific ports, frequently those associated with streaming audio and video, in order to reduce bandwidth expenses and discourage workers from listening to online streaming radio stations.
