Trivia, story behind the song, etc.
bODYMINE is an anthem to embodiment. after withstanding an eating disorder that almost killed me, i trained to become a body-based psychotherapist. when i wrote this song, i was working with women, in groups and individually, in new york city. several years later, i began dancing improvisationally in groups of people with and without physical disabilites. bODYMINE took on a whole next level of significance. Lyrics
I was schooled to scorn the flesh I learned to love the bone Chasing magazine silhouettes I disowned my own Sweet vessel, bodyMine Won't you be my home? We've been separated too long I'm a veteran of this endless Siege against myself Don't know how this war got started I just fought like hell Sweet vessel, bodyMine Won't you be my home? We've been separated too long How can I undo what's done? Heal the ancient wound For so long this bodySong Was full of pain and full of shame Now I hear a different voice Callling sweet and low Telling me that I have been set free Sweet vessel, bodyMine I've been so alone Praise the day you welcomed me Back home Praise the day you welcomed me Praise the day you welcomed me Praise the day you welcomed me Back home Sweet vessel, bodyMine copyright 1998 by Lori B
