This decades-old song was written by Spooner Oldham and Dan Penn. I bought the soundtrack to the movie The Commitments, which was based on the novel by Roddy Doyle, specifically because I loved this song so much!

This has been one of my favorite songs for years. Barbara Dickson does an absolutely superb heart-wrenching rendition of this song that oughta make you want to cry if it is done well!
