Lyrics
DUST DEVILS ã2007 Mike Strasser Oh, you toss your hair and underwear as if the devil himself may care Then you laugh and say, “He doesn’t” Like some tree that drops it leaves on boulevards or city streets You don’t care which way the wind blows But it’s coming in now from the west and Dust Devils envy the dress That circles ‘round your back and waist while they’re condemned to dissipate Let’s hop the train that comes around and stops in every little town That’s well defined by it’s limits It’s good to be reminded why some folks reach up to touch the sky While others, oh they’re just grabbing Salty snacks from wire racks, salvation sold by the six-pack “Let’s go.” you say as you walk by and drag your finger ‘cross my thigh Making love in a sweaty berth with muffled moans while neighbors curse I wake up from that dream to find you’re wondering what’s on my mind And it’s first the mountains then the plains and then more mountains again Before we reach the high desert The air up here starts to get thin. The scarcity of oxygen can bring on rash behaviors. You ask me, “Do I want a shot.” I tell you, “I have had enough Of clear thinking and self-control. I’m just about to explode.” Oh, I must be a Dust Devil too ‘cause just like them I long to Circle close your body You are the moisture that I need to dampen down this dust in me And quell all this commotion Now the wind has stopped the air is hot. You look cool but you are not. Your eyes they are beckoning and then we begin to spin.
