From the liner notes:
"In the mid 1800's the guaracha became popular in the teatro bufo habanero. It also had roots in the Spanish zarzuela and was used as a means to criticize the governing colonial powers through satire and comedy. The duo Los Compadres sang with this picardía (naughtiness). We were inspired by their energy, their playful vocal and tres interpretations, and the "playing" of instruments that weren't really there."
