haha... I got caught in an edit conflict...
Cub asked if I envisioned a meeting time or a go-to-sparx kinda thing...
- Thanks for asking, Cub. I see it as a goto program. Though we could have some regularly scheduled meetings when chat comes back. I'm hoping it's one way we can offload some of Jim's burden because lots of questions I see asked of him, both in chat and on his talk page, could be answered by any one of several people. I'm thinking we can rechannel some of that to the knowledgeable folks, and then that keeps expanding.
- Take care of yourself, Cub! (Like you need me to tell you.) I've done some years of those 80-hour weeks - it's tough.
- -tangent- All of a sudden, I find myself involved in helping people learn. My new assistant at work needs some guidance on learning the ropes of newspapering, and here at WWR. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. sparx (talk) 19:26, May 9, 2008 (AKDT)
Something I wish I could be :-(
I think this is a great idea, alas currently I don't think I'd be really very useful to someone. Part of the draw of Wikis is that I can contribute when I have a solid few hours of free time and not when I have exams, assignments and whatnot. If I were a mentor I'm afraid I'd be available at times they don't need me and vica versa.
Then there's the issue of timezones right?

Thoughts
Until this gets off the ground, would it be beneficial to set up "ask for help" pages? Those of us that have volunteered to help could monitor the pages. I know that is what the Ask Mr. Monkey page is for, but maybe we could make something more obvious and user friendly? Kelli (talk) 11:18, May 13, 2008 (AKDT)
- I had the impression that the "Ask Mr. Monkey page" was for more general questions like, "Does it really not get dark until August in Talkeetna?" Maybe we just need to make it generally known that the AMM page is available for technical wiki questions too.
- I think a howto focused discussion page might do the trick. How's about Wiki howto Q&A? sparx (talk) 16:53, May 13, 2008 (AKDT)
==Great Ideas, I guess I've assumed that Mr. Monkey was a stop of last resort, and I feel dumb or like I'm being rude asking basic questions in chat when I don't really chat. (sorta like please help me - thx bye) Sharpston (talk) 12:35, May 14, 2008 (AKDT)
