What is your most cherished childhood memory?

Like KodiBear, I feel that I had a blessed childhood, thanks to two loving parents. Unlike KodiBear though, I'm struggling to come up with my most cherished childhood memory, at least one of substance that I could write about. Old age? Too much sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll when I was younger? (How can you have too much sex? Hmmm . . . perhaps a good daily topic question for another day!) While not much "substance," but certainly cherished, whenever I hear the song, "Jambalaya" by Hank Williams Sr., I'm harkened back to the days of riding in a pickup truck with my dad (I was probably 3- or 4-years old at the time), standing on the seat, arms wrapped around his neck and singing "Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou!" at the top of our lungs. That song (and memory) always bring a smile to my face, just like it did when we sang it. Kimchifox (talk/contribs) 07:33, July 18, 2008 (AKDT)

I had a great childhood, thanks to the concentrated efforts of my mom. So you would think choosing one event would be hard, but it's not. My mom had the soul of artist, I saw some pencil drawings of her parents that she had done as a teenager that brought tears to your eyes. I always assumed, being a young teen 13 or 14 at the time, that she was forced into being practical by life events. One dusk we where setting on lawn chairs in the backyard after a Texas thunderstorm. We were finding things in the clouds. I was seeing faces and comic book characters, she was seeing whole villages. She turned to me and spoke to me as an adult, the first time. You know I always wanted to be an artist, but I wanted to be a mom more than anything. She took my hand and we just watched the clouds. Thanks Mom KodiBear (talk/contribs) 06:20, July 18, 2008 (AKDT)
