Are you superstitious?" If so, what are your "silliest" superstitions?
I don't consider myself superstitious, but I still have a few I engage in (even if I don't really mean it, I think). One is -- and I don't even remember where I got it, but I read an essay just recently by someone who did the same thing for decades until he finally broke the trend, so maybe we picked it up in the same place -- that on the last day of a month, the last thing I say before I go to bed is "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit." And then it's also the first thing I say in the morning when I wake up in the new month. I think it's supposed to bring good luck in the new month. I also throw a pinch of spilled salt over my left shoulder, and I knock wood when saying something that I don't want to jinx. E.D. Egg (talk/contribs) 15:29, September 4, 2008 (AKDT)
I don’t consider myself very superstitious, but I do cling to two totally inane superstitions. The first is whenever I have lunch at Cahoots, a small “Cheers”-like bar/restaurant near where I work, I always grab three peanuts on the way out the door and eat them before I get in my car for good luck. My second superstition is that I always avoid reading the game statistics displayed at Giants Stadium for fear of jinxing the Giants. I keep telling myself that the stats don’t matter, only the score. It’s tortuous not to read them, but getting easier as my eyesight isn’t what it used to be. The odd thing is, whenever I’ve weakened and read the stats, the Giants always seem to lose. Kimchifox (talk/contribs) 05:57, September 4, 2008 (AKDT)
