What are the most important characteristics you look for in a friend?

Generally being alive is the first characteristic I would look for! For me, I'm a fairly introverted person, not as in I like to close myself off completely from the outside world, but that I find quiet activities more enjoyable than boisterous nights out. If I were looking for a new friend, I'd want them to know how I like to live life, and they should ideally like the same activities (yay!) or otherwise respect my wish to go to a wine tasting or a black and white movie on a Friday night :-). The characteristics of a friend that are most important to me are: trustworthiness, someone who is not afraid to disagree with me or tell me something that I may not want to hear, similar interests (e.g., love of music or fishing), and a positive outlook on life. I want friends that I can trust to be loyal and honest. I want to have things in common, but be able to disagree and stretch each other. I like people who really think about things. Firewalk (talk/contribs) 04:57, September 8, 2008 (AKDT)
