I'm gonna try my damnest to make it to Wheatstalk 2007. You'd think living in Alaska it would be easy. The summer before I discovered WWR I was close by on a weeks vacation driving around Alaska visiting friends and family. I spent one beautiful day in 2003 at Denali airfield watching small planes come in and out. Had it been a little cloudy I would have been able to get a comp flight into the Wood River area and visit my sister who was caretaking a backwoods lodge.

In 1980 I ventured into Alaska driving a 1971 VW camper bus with my 3 yo daughter in August. I spent my 25th birthday at the Talkeetna Bluegrass festiful. No kidding! I drove my bus out there and camped. At the time I was straight from Seattle and a hard rocker. In my tape deck was the Rolling Stones "Some Girls" and was a tape I made with 33s and in between each Stone song was a song from Ernies Sesame Street gang album. Along with Pat Benatar, Bonnie Rait, Queen, Hoyt Axton in an out of factory installed stereo with a booster amp. That bus was one big speaker. I would turn it up and jump out!

There was a stage and they were playing bluegrass music. I thought it sucked.
