Hello everybody, I have no idea what I am doing but...

I just uploaded a picture of our 14 year old, 15 pound top cat who runs things here at the Mouse House (no kidding) in Carmel by-the-Sea on the Central California Coast. George is sitting with me on the patio, listening to the surf and generally working on his equamity, sang froid and overall coolness. George was adopted from the Monterey County SPCA on St. Josephs Day in 2006. His domain is a 40 by 100 ft lot south of Ocean. He fits in very well here, Carmel was founded by a real estate speculator in the late 19th century who's primary marketing was to "Teachers and other Brain Workers". No one who naps so much could be anything but a brain worker.

New and disturbing news...

I saw a new and disturbing side of George the Cat this afternoon...

We were sitting out on the patio this lunch time, I was eating bread and Cheetos and George was sitting next to me in his chair. He was watching me eat, was very relaxed and purring up a storm. All of a sudden I noticed he was looking past me to the end of the table and was, (there is no other way to describe it), snarling. His mouth was open, his teeth bared and he had all of the characteristics of a ravening beast. I followed his gaze to the end of the table and saw a happy, perky and outgoing blue jay. The Jay looked at me, enquired politely as to what was on offer and I gave him a cheeto. George, although he made no move towards the bird, had a demonic glare in his eyes and was hissing. Seeing his discomfort I waved my hands and the blue jay politely flew away with the Cheetos in his beak. George looked at me with a new sense of respect and wonder in his eyes, clearly he thought, here is a man who can command blue jays. He went back to sleep.

Beware the cat.
