I have been a Whole Wheat Radio listener for many years. It is a wonderful place to hang out and hear some amazing music. I love the wide variety of music you can hear, I have discovered some wonderful musicians on WWR. The chat room is also a fun place to hang out in.. of course they are all nutters in there. But I love them all and would not a trade them for anything.

I moved up to Alaska due to the creator of the internet Jim Bob, he had proposed to me and since I am so lonely and desperate I moved all the way from Maine to Alaska. Once I met JimBob... I knew there was no way I was going to marry him and live in that little cabin with him and his concubine Esther. They have no running water and you have to poop outside. I am just not that kinda girl.

So on my never ending quest for my next husband, I have started dating some Alaskan men. I must say that has been an interesting experience in itself. I have dated a really great guy.. who of course I have never heard from again. Then there was the George Jefferson look alike who snorted when he laughed. Then there was the New Jersey version of Archie Bunker - bigot through and through - but swore up and down he wasn't.

Perhaps my Prince Charming is up here somewhere. If he is.. can someone let me know where he lives, so I can put on my glass slippers and jump in my pumpkin carriage and live happily ever after. Until then I will just continue to live in the big city of Anchorage, sitting by the cinders, waiting for my fairy godmother to show up.

Flying with Cub Driver, OHHHH MYYY GODDDD!!!

First of all, that "thing" he calls an airplane is little more than a wheelbarrow with wings; it makes a Volkswagon look like a giant luxury car. He has to tie it down at the airport, any well placed sneeze would probably tip it over. It's far easier to crawl into a clothes dryer than it is the Super Cub. And those tires; they look like something from a Bugs Bunny cartoon! This wasn't the pumpkin carriage I had in mind.

We managed to crawl inside this thing and taxi to the runway and take off. Let me tell you that thing rides like a wooden roller coaster without the rails. I have never been so close to tossing my cookies for so long in my life. I took a Bonnine for motion sickness before we left. If you ever accept his offer to go flying, take the whole box, and pray.

We finally made our way to Knik Glacier and he lands the plane on a gravel bar so rough that I wouldn't drive my car on it. He landed four times, or rather "bounced" four times; 'HE' claims the ground came up to meet us four times. I don't think he ever took lessons in landing; but hey, I was ready to get out so I wasn't going to complain. Then he takes me bushwhacking through alders and over loose rocks; I'm thinking I landed on an Indianna Jones movie set. I expected some aborigine to jump out with a blow gun at any minute.

We finally stepped out on a gravel morainne and there was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen, we were nose-to-nose with the Knik Glacier. Cubhas been telling me I only live 15 minutes from Alaska, and now I know what he meant. "His" Alaska will take your breath away. Next time he offers to take me for a ride in that paper airplane of his, I'll take the whole box of Bonnine and I'll be waiting at the door with my coat.

Here lies Cub. He said he was working on the flight plan home, but I am pretty sure that noise coming from him was snoring.

Talkeetna Bachelor Auction 2006

Ok so four lovely wheathead ladies spend a few hours getting primped and gorgeous for the annual Talkeetna Bachelor Auction. We head off in various levels of anticipation. The married one is just going to help me find a man. The anticipation builds in the room. Finally it starts, the bidding is fast and furious the first man is off the block and in the arms of the woman who has purchased him for the night. Then the second man steps up in a black tux with tails. This is the one you should get the other wheatheads whisper to me. So the bidding starts- $25, $30 $50, $75 and then it is up over $100, but they won’t let me stop bidding, we are all digging in our purses for money to purchase this specimen of an Alaskan man. I do finally win at $135.00! He is mine at least for the evening. I have to go on stage and get my picture taken and am given a carnation. Then the Talkeetna Times interviews me for the paper and did I mention that Jay Leno’s camera crew was in town, so look for me on the Tonight Show along with all the other wild women who are now in a bidding frenzy.

So the evening continues, I get my drink from my bachelor and then we head off to dancing at The Hanger which is a ballroom at least in Talkeetna’s eyes. It is actually just a very large shed, but the band is playing and off we go. Well at least 2 of us headed off for the ball, two party poopers, who will not be mentioned sneak off back, to their beds and call it a night. For the other two of us, dancing and drinking and tons of flirting are all that is one the menu. I am so sore from dancing for hours on end. The other wheathead has thrown out her hip from all the dancing and gyrating that was going on. Dancing goes on until the wee hours of the morning, finally I give up and walk back to the hotel with a grin on my face which might not leave for several days. Did I mention that I also won a sight seeing flight over Mt Denali and we all know how much I love small planes and being air sick. Bring on the Dramamine and air sick bags.

The last wheathead continues to dance and flirt and then heads to the Roadhouse for the all night breakfast. She finally staggers home at 5:30 a.m. And the evening finally ends, which means we have a year to recover and get ready for next year's.

Gotta love Alaska.

Horoscope

Today's horoscope for Scorpio:
The certain person in your life who has always been so elusive to you is about to dramatically change their style today. Suddenly, they're interested in your business and eager to spend time with you! Are you suspicious of this remarkable change of attitude? Good, because you should be. This is not the day to make a fresh start with anyone. That doesn't mean that you should never give them the time of day, it just means that today they may have ulterior motives.
Looks like a 4 wheatberry day for you dear Scorpio.
