It's very heartening to hear that there is still a language and a people who are connected so intimately to Mother Earth's cycle. Thanks for sharing that Billy. . . brought a smile to my face. I have one bird left, as far as I know, in this second brood. I've had to make the opening to the nest smaller because the Jay stole 3 of the eggs. Hope you are well. Year of Wonders

Hi Sparx. I was just looking at what you had been reading. That always interests me. A book you may want to try some time that I am reading right now is called Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. I just started on it last night and have had a hard time putting it down. The protagonist a peasant women living through the time of the plague in her village of Eyam is the story teller.

Wow, thanks Billy! It does look like a fascinating read. I'm gonna look for it at the local bookstore, or amazon.
Connie Willis' Doomsday Book is set mostly in a time of plague. I could hardly put it down when reading it. Not so much because it was during the plague, but because it was a fascinating story and well written.
I've not been reading as much the past few years as I used to. I think I'm going to set the Umberto Eco book aside again. Just doesn't seem to suit my mood of late. Years of Wonder might be just the ticket!

Troubled mind

I am having a terrible time figuring out how this new chat works?

BillyBones, howdy!

You can go here [1] or here [2] Hope this helps you out some. The chat is now stationary and not scrolling basically, so that more of the users will use their time editing and helping built the website.

Hope you are well, dear. ReWoven (talk) 10:13, May 7, 2008 (AKDT)

Hello BillyBones. Yup I still teach. I run a High School Aviation and Space program, do some study halls, run the guitar club, play in the pep band, sound and lights for the music groups.... just a jack of all trades. I play Accordion in a Swedish/Scandinavian folk group, Trumpet in a Polish Polka Band, and keyboards for many other things.... like I said, Jack of all trades.

Leaving for of these ~ to sign my name and time ReWoven (talk) 20:12, May 7, 2008 (AKDT)

Sandbox

I am practicing in the sandbox . Trying to figure out the language. A lot of people have a Howdy thanks for dropping by and it inserts your name. When they go on their site does their name automatically go in that space? If not what do I need to do?Billybones (talk) 19:26, May 8, 2008 (AKDT)

Butting in to say this little snippet of code is what shows your visitor their name - Anon - you'll need to look at or copy it in edit mode. BTW: You're picking up this wiki stuff really fast! Image:Thumbsup.gif sparx (talk) 20:49, May 8, 2008 (AKDT)

Computer language

When you enter your site does your name automatically show up after Howdy? If not, what do I need to do with the code?Billybones (talk) 22:35, May 8, 2008 (AKDT)

Yes. On my user page that code snippet shows my name. It shows the name of whoever the viewer is logged in as. Jim sees his name when he looks at it. Kelli sees hers and so on. Nifty, eh? sparx (talk) 17:24, May 9, 2008 (AKDT)

I figured it out

Hi Sparx!

I figured it out! Billybones (talk) 10:57, May 15, 2008 (AKDT)

Alrighty! Your User page is really coming along. Image:Thumbsup.gif sparx (talk) 17:04, May 15, 2008 (AKDT)

Would you like to do Today's Topic for Saturday?

If you'd like to present the question for Today's topic for tomorrow, just let me know on my talk page. Thanks! Jim (talk) 07:44, June 6, 2008 (AKDT)

Billybones Hi Jim. My choices for topic for the day are: What book are you reading at the present time? or What is the most interesting character you ever came across in a book you read?Billybones (talk) 08:43, June 6, 2008 (AKDT)

That'd be great. But it's up to you to edit the Today's topic page sometime tomorrow at your convenience and post either of those questions. Can you do that? If not because of something else you're doing, then I'll post either question in your stead if you'd like. But it's really cool if you can post it yourself!
