Fantastic

"It is not a Democracy, never was a Democracy, and was never intended to be a Democracy. It is a Representative Republic.". It is a shame our fellow citizens are deluded with the democracy nonsense. You have it so right! Hoonah 09:35, January 29, 2008 (AKST)

thanks

Saw your birthday greetings to me today when I was popping in and out... just wanted to say thank you in case i don't see you in chat again today. LuAnna (talk) 18:40, March 13, 2008 (AKDT)

Thanks Kax for doing the heavy lifting on WWR - I especially noticed your help with Corty Byron and the Green Onions - I just searched on it for a whim and viola - Esther carried his CD back to WWR from our House concert - thanks for making it a PAGE and much more

Chili (talk)

Thanks again Kax — I couldn't get the Chilberries jpg to work and i tried. It is too soon to flush them to obscurity. Thanks, ohh and thanks for being here! Chili (talk/contribs) 15:44, June 11, 2008 (AKDT)

Hi Kazooy. I wanted to let you know that I wrote to Mike Wall today complementing him on his music. I received a very nice email in return with a lovely piece of music he is working on as a gift. In replying to his email, I let him know that you (with your user page link) had put together a wonderful artist page (which I also included). You may hear from him or not, but wanted to let you know that I had mentioned your "work" in my email, in case you get an email out of the blue from him. He seems to be full of heart so wouldn't be surprised if you did. ReWoven (talk) 17:26, April 16, 2008 (AKDT)

Kazookid! Pick another letter! I started the T's last night.

I keep track of where you are; please do the same with me so we're not running into each other.

Thanks, Mert (talk) 12:29, April 21, 2008 (AKDT)

Sandbox pages

Kazoo - I temporarily removed your ability to change pages because you kept changing Tagging report and setting it back to letters that were already done. I tried to get your attention in chat but we were both busy. Now that I have a second, please use a sandbox page such as User:Kazookid/sandbox and copy the $ wwr_report_tag((images,,W)) (no space) command to that page. Then you can play with it, adjust it etc. all you want and not effect anyone else. Once you acknowledge this comment on User_talk:Jimkloss with a comment, then I'll set you back. Sorry for any mixup as I know you weren't trying to mess that page up and we're both busy doing our thing. Jimbob (talk) 11:52, April 27, 2008 (AKDT)

Deleting images

Kazoo - please stop deleting images that have been uploaded that you overwrite. Just upload a new image overtop the old one but don't delete the history of the images that were uploaded before. Thanks. Jimbob (talk) 11:00, April 28, 2008 (AKDT)

Bios/Images

Basically, I'm just heartsick. I just spent 2 weeks uploading artist images, bios, and bio pics. On the order of 1500 bio pics alone. Some of the artist bios have up to 6 pics all highly and dependently intertwined with the text, taking me hours to do for some single bios. Virtually all of them have been carefully sized to fit the text and placed according to their subject's orintation in the photo, some on the left, some on the right, some with second, third, fourth , fifth , and sixth photos in various locations throughout the text. Now all turned to total crap.

On some photos, even after gleaning the internet for hours, only one photo could be found, which in some cases may only be 150px, and since there was only one, it was used for both the artist image and the bio pic, a picture such as that cannot be resized bigger, and there is no other image anywhere to replace it.

Then there are the ones like the one where the only images on the artist website or to be found anywhere were 100px photos in the bio, so I spent hours putting all six photos in and getting the appropriate bio text to be next to each photo.

Gonna have to trash literally hundreds of bio/photos, and there is nothing to replace it with.

The size and placement of a photo within text is highly critical. It is not and cannot ever be a "one size and location within the text fits all" situation. It is not a "what size the user wants in his skin situation", it is a "what works and fits within the text situation". Kazookid (talk) 05:05, May 2, 2008 (AKDT)

I'm sincerely sorry you're heartsick about it.
How would you like me to respond to this? Let you do the system design and take responsibility for the technical direction and growth of WWR? Should I walk away and let you run the wiki?
You and another editor set out on an independent course even after myself and others tried to explain that artist page layouts should not be customized to such a fine degree because eventually a template would be used to standardize them all. But I don't think you heard us. Nor did you engage in constructive discussion about your concerns. I did not force you to stop your detailed customization both because the text and images you were providing are the raw data that is so critically needed and because I was not aware you were spending "hours to do for some single bios". I can understand why you are upset.
Your work is not now "total crap". The work you've done has provided the basis for where the artist pages are today and where they will go. The image sizing issues you are worried about can be dealt with potentially. Even placement issues can potentially be dealt with. But you're not even giving the rest of us a chance to make the design change and then make improvements. You are ready to attack the concept before seeing where it goes and what additional variables can be added to help people customize layouts. Your entire thought process concerning where the artist/album/song pages are headed is flawed but rather than trust someone who actually knows something about how such issues can be dealt with, you write this heartfelt complaint within hours of the concept being implemented. I don't blame you for that - you are not an internet software system designer or programmer and have no experience with the underlying architecture. But I have no idea what you would like me to say or do. And I am not comfortable being challenged technically by a novice ... nor would you be comfortable if I challenged you about how to rebuild a cabinet or what steps to take to remodel a house since I know very little about it.
Somehow you've been duped into believing that "The size and placement of a photo within text is highly critical" and there's nothing I can do to change your mind. Only you can change your mind by being open to the many variations of graphic output experienced by every user. Your layouts were already "crap" to anyone at 640 resolution. Or anyone who scrolled their mouse wheel in Firefox while viewing. Or anyone using a wiki skin other than the default. Or anyone using certain versions of Opera. Or anyone using a different default font than you use. But you aren't aware of any of these variations because if you were you never would have been sold down the laughable stream of "what works and fits within the text situation". This is the internet where there is no such anchor as "the text situation". You have just learned that lesson in an, unfortunately, harsh way.
Obviously, if you are so upset with a step that was planned and has not degraded your contributions in any significant way except in your eyes and heart, there is nothing I can do except offer this explanation and hope you'll take a step back, be patient, open and curious to observe what happens with new eyes. We are all grateful for your incredible work and dedication and hope you'll stick around and see how it all unfolds.
But if not, then we understand if you must leave ... and will only say a sincere thank you for providing the solid basis information and images for artists. Your contributions will live on even if you can't see it at this moment.

Paul Curreri and Danny Schmidt Photo question

Kazokid, I am truly sorry to get in the middle of this, I saw your post on Jim's talk page and I have to agree with him that that is a photo of Danny Schmidt, not Paul Curreri. I believe this for a couple of reasons, one the other photo's of Paul don't look like the one Jim is referring too. Paul has a much heavier beard on his lower lip/chin. Secondly, after doing a little searching around on the web, Paul produced Danny's last album and they have played some gig's together, so I don't think it would be unusual for Paul to have a photo of Danny on his site. Lastly, here is a photo of Jim, Esther and Danny, and you can see the earring in his left ear Danny Schmidt, Jim and Esther DogNut (talk) 06:18, May 10, 2008 (AKDT)

Hey Kzoo, you are right, that picture was on Paul Curreri's page in his website, but I was so sure it was Danny Schmidt that I shot Mr. Curreri an e-mail, and here is his reply.
Hello Cate
I’m so relieved that you came to me with this query. I’d certainly hate to postpone the conclusive verdict any longer, so I’ll get right to it…
That is indeed Mr. Schmidt with the hat on. That is also Mr. Schmidt’s ass standing next to me in the 2nd photo on that page. Honestly, I’m not sure I’ve ever even SEEN that page. I certainly didn’t select those photos! They’re rather random indeed.
Oh well. Happy y’all are digging the stuff, that is fooooorrrrr certain, yes.
All the best,
Paul
When in doubt, go straight to the source, I always say Image:Spinhead.gif Cater (talk) 11:55, May 13, 2008 (AKDT)

hello and thanks

Hi Kazookid Mike Strasser here I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for taking the time to rate some of my songs. As a songwriter, etc it is always nice when folks take the time to let one (me) know what you think. So, thanks All the Best Mike Strasser

Heads up

I just tagged you for Thursday's "Today's Topic" question. I'm sure it will be appropriately pithy. Image:Smile.gifMert (talk/contribs) 07:00, June 9, 2008 (AKDT)

Will Thompson

Kaz - I worked on Will Thompson's page last night, but I was unable to find a bio for him. I also noticed that he provides lyrics on his web site, but they are in a JPG image, not text. I ended up scanning a print of the lyrics into OCR software and converting to text. Long process, might be easier just to type the lyrics out. Cub Driver 15:19, June 27, 2008 (AKDT)

Needs Fixin

Hi Kazoo. When you find a problem with an artist page (or any page), please add {{Needs Fixin}} to the page. That will put it in a category that makes it easier for Jim to find. Thanks! Kelli (talk/contribs) 18:52, June 29, 2008 (AKDT)

Good luck with electricity

Hope it all works out for you. I sent you an email several days ago via WWR --- if you did not get it and would like me to resend it, just let me know on my talk page. We'll miss you! Jim (talk/contribs) 10:51, July 8, 2008 (AKDT)

Now Playing Page

Jim, when you fixed the Punctuated image problem you forced the image size for the artist image to 125px on the Now Playing Page, should be 150px. Image:Smile.gif Thanks, Kazookid (talk/contribs) 13:47, July 13, 2008 (AKDT)

Oops! Just fixed it. Let me know if I didn't. Jim (talk/contribs) 13:51, July 13, 2008 (AKDT)
