Hey Kimchifox -

Thanks so much for the positive review on my CDBaby page. I've been meaning to ask folks who have the CD to do little write-ups, because it really does help future sales. THANK YOU and I'm glad you like the music! Esther 20:27, December 1, 2007 (AKST)

Sparks for Sparx

Hi Sparx! I see that you finally got to listen to Will Ray's "Sparks" and actually liked it! While I'm sure it will be difficult to supplant ZZ Top's "Master of Sparks" as your all-time favorite "sparks" song, it certainly is (as Marlon Brando would say) "a contenda!" I also thought you might like to take a listen to my latest "ear worm" -- Tom Wait's Road to Peace. Tom is an acquired taste, but something tells me that you'll enjoy this song, even if you're not a big Tom Waits fan. By the way, I've noticed from the song ratings that we have somewhat similar tastes in music. Please let me know what you think! Kimchifox (talk) 19:38, May 14, 2008 (AKDT)

There you go again getting me in trouble! Image:Newmona.gif I decided to watch the video at work, but the Flash plug-in wasn't installed. So, I tried to install it, but kept getting some error message about insufficient permission. So, armed with an admin password I set out to correct that by opening up permissions on the folders involved. That wasn't successful and I abandoned the notion.
However, after fiddling with permissions and running the latest OS10 updates, I couldn't launch any of my Adobe products! All my work is done with Adobe products. The error message said uninstall and reinstall was required. Though that would be a cake walk, the disks are 50 miles away in our Chelan office. And this was after making another big mistake this week. Ugh!
We're not dead in the water though. I have the software on my laptop which I'll lug in tomorrow to get the work done.
Here's the really silly part — I have that Tom Waits tune already. I rather like ol' Tom. But I wanted to watch the video.
I rather like the new "Sparks" tune, but you're right it won't supplant "Master of Sparks."

Recipes and The Council

So Sparx, what recipe did you try? Whatever you chose, I hope it worked out well for you. Also, do you know if the Council of Elders are appointed by Jimbob or volunteers? If the latter, I wouldn't mind volunteering. Please let me know! Also, sad news regarding Atuu. I sure hope he gets well soon! Kimchifox (talk) 09:52, May 19, 2008 (AKDT)

I didn't get as far as trying one of the recipes yet. Already had stuff to make stir fried chicken, veggies and rice that day. I love cedar planked salmon! But I think I'm gonna try the Green Lightning Shrimp first.
Jim has asked people to serve as volunteers on the Council of Elders (It's down in the Additional Notes section). I don't know who all has accepted besides myself. As I recall he intends to do the selecting. However, do let him know that you are interested in voluntering.
I was saddened by news of Atuu's illness. I hope recovery goes easy for him.

507th PIR

Hi Kimchifox, I have the honor of working on the 507th PIR exhibit here at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, GA. Have had the opportunity to meet a few of the last remaining veterans of the 507th who landed in France. They will be having a reunion here in mid Oct. and look forward to them seeing the new exhibit filled with their memorabilia and personal stories for future generations to see.bycracky (talk) Image:507_PIC_WITH_PARACHUTE_SPIDER.jpg

507th PIR

I will forward your photo and info on if you like. Have met with D. Francios, a real neat guy. He has visited us several times at the museum and has been working on a film for the new exhibit. Many of the museum staff have gone to France over the past two - three years; several times. Working with Bud Parker, Dominique and survivors both French and American. Have you seen the new monument to the 507th that they built in France? Just splendid! The film will be geared towards two young french girls who assisted the Americans. One of the women has donated her wedding dress which was made out of one of the parachutes! I could go on and on with contacts for the 507th... Also, I have D-Day Down to Earth which was put together specifically for the 507th and is a documentary of the paratroopers, their story... very moving and touching listening to the vetereans. Again, Oct would be great if you could come visit and there will be a free concert to boot with Lee Greenwood! A whole weekend planed around WWII building and the exhibit openings. If you don't mind me sharing your photo, I would be very pleased to send it to our archivist and the capital campaign director. Such courageous stories. Part of the building will be used for education classes. I could send you info too if you like. May have info on many of the men from the 507th during Normandy. bycracky (talk)
