Whole Wheat Radio originates from the loft in the Wheat Hole.

The Wheat Hole is was essentially the nerve center for WWR. It's a 24' x 28' plywood cabin with a loft that is accessible only by using a ladder. The WWR computers and broadcasting studio are located in the loft.

The Wheat Hole has such creature comforts as electricity, DSL lines, a wood-burning stove, a coffee pot, a refrigerator, a bed, and even a microwave oven. However, it lacks running water and toilet facilities. Wheat Hole visitors are invited to take a short stroll to the official Whole Wheat Radio Outhouse. Many refuse the invitation and improvise using a large bush or tree.

The Wheat Hole is also the venue for WWR House Concerts. On concert days, folding chairs are set up, and Jimbob mans the sound engineering from the loft.

In early 2006, Esther and Jim began to make plans for a Wheat Palace. As of April the papers are signed on a former watering hole near Talkeetna.

History

The Wheat Hole was built in 2004 by Larry Zarella, with the assistance of many others.
